Official Statement from Lunch Actually re: CEO Violet Lim’s Covid-19 Case
Dear Clients, Partners, Media and Friends,
By now, you would have read a recent post written by our Co-Founder and Chief Cupid Violet Lim on Facebook yesterday (2 Apr 2020) that she was tested positive for Covid-19. Many media outlets, Facebook groups and friends have shared her post, and on her behalf, we would like to thank everyone for their best wishes and words of encouragement that you have sent Violet since yesterday.
Lunch Actually would like to make this official statement to give updates and share answers on any concerns that you may have:
First, on Violet’s condition. Violet is recovering well right now. She only developed mild symptoms and since her diagnosis on 26 March, she has been treated in the hospital and currently, in a recovery facility.
Second, on her travel history. Violet traveled to the US with her husband cum business partner Jamie on 6 March for work. At that time, Singapore has not issued any travel restrictions. They took a 18-hours direct flight on 12 Mar and returned back to Singapore on 13 March. The 14-days SHN for any returnees was also not issued yet. However, Violet and Jamie both decided to practice self-quarantine and have been staying mainly in their room at home.
Third, on her contact history. Since the government raised its DORSCON level to Orange on 7 Feb, Lunch Actually has begun testing the split team arrangements. Violet was in Team 2, the offsite team. Since 17 Feb, she did not have any contacts with any client-facing dating consultants or stepped in the office premise.
Fourth, on her symptoms. Violet only started developing mild symptoms on 25 March at 2am when she experienced headache, chest tightness and shortness of breath. She saw her GP and was later referred to NCID and tested on the same day.
We have been receiving many calls and messages from singles, tenants, and friends and we understand that they may be concerned to learn about this news. Through this statement, we hope that we have addressed these concerns and we assure you that Violet’s diagnosis does not affect the office premises or any of the associates in Lunch Actually.
Our team at Lunch Actually has continued to step up our hygiene measures long since the start of this Coronavirus outbreak. We are taking strict precautions to disinfect our office twice daily, wearing masks, requiring travel and health declarations for any visitors to our premise and for members who are going on dates, practising social distancing in the consultation rooms and in the working space between consultants. We have also since offered the option to conduct virtual consultations and arrange virtual dates for our clients.
We are optimistic that Violet will recover soon, especially because of the amazing care from our healthcare workers we have here in Singapore! Together, we will overcome this challenge and come out better, and stronger.
Sincerely,
Christina Thung
