10 Foods You Must Avoid BEFORE the First Date
Preparing for a first date is scary. Do not let the following types of food make your first date worse!
Generally, we know about the kinds of food we should avoid eating on the first date. For example, there's lobster (messy), garlic (bad breath), or spinach (might get stuck in your teeth). In addition to that, however, there are also these foods we should avoid BEFORE the first date - check them out below!
1 - Coffee
We love our morning coffee, but did you know it also makes us SWEAT? First dates already give us sweaty hands, and we do not need the extra help.
2 - Alcohol
When alcohol goes through the body, it seeps out through your pores and breath. Your sweat can even smell like alcohol too, so put down that glass. You do not want your date to think that you are an alcoholic.
3 - Soft Drinks
Soft drinks are tasty, but they will also make you feel gassy and bloated. Need we say more?
4 - Beans
We love beans on toast, and beans with rice. Beans are great, really. However, beans are not great before a first date, and of course, during the date. Beans give us gas, which you do not want your first date to hear, or worse, smell!
5 - Spicy Food
Spicy food is a common staple in Asia. Perhaps you are a spice champion, and you wouldn’t react much to a hot bowl of curry laksa or tom yum goong. Still, save the spice challenge for much later, because spicy food may still give you stomach pains and diarrhea.
6 - Dairy
Love cheese, milk, and ice-cream? Try to give them a miss in the hours before your date. A lot of Asians are lactose intolerant with an inability to digest milk sugars. Even if you can handle your dairy, it may still lead to bloating and an uncomfortable stomach.
7 - Pastries
Pastries are yummy. Pastries are also bad for your digestion, and can make you feel tired and sluggish. Don’t consume these if you want to remain alert on your date.
8 - Red Meat
Speaking of feeling tired, red meat also makes you sleepy. Red meat has high fat content, which takes a lot of energy to break down. This means that your body will focus on doing that for a while, ignoring other functions like concentration. Skip the red meat before your date, and focus on your date instead!
9 - Garlic
Yes, you should NOT consume garlic on a date. However, did you know that you shouldn't eat garlic before the date too? It will not be just your breath that smells if you do. Garlic gets absorbed into blood. It is then released into the lungs and through pores, which means you could smell of garlic even a few hours later.
10 - High-fibre foods
Think prunes, peas, raspberries, blackberries, and so on. Listen, high-fibre foods are great, especially for curing constipation. You just do not want to cure your constipation during your date nights, especially the first one.
Do avoid all these foods so that your body will not get in the way of impressing your date.
Happy dating, and may your first date go well!
